DDA Information

The Grosse Pointe Village DDA activities are undertaken by the members and staff to make the downtown area a better place in which to live.  All businesses and properties within the DDA are automatically a part of the DDA.

To help promote future development in the Village shopping district and to provide a mechanism to fund public improvements that will support the vitality of the City’s central business district, the City Council created and established the Grosse Pointe Downtown Development Authority in July 2008.

The DDA Board met and created a Development Plan and Tax Increment Financing Plan which outlines the goals and projects which would be eligible for DDA expenditures in the DDA district. The DDA approved its plan on November 3, 2008 and submitted it to the City Council. The City Council approved the DDA Development Plan and Tax Increment Financing Plan and Ordinance on December 15, 2008. The DDA Board approved an amendment to the DDA Plan on December 3, 2012 which the City Council, after public hearing, approved the amendment on January 28, 2013.  On June 1, 2015 The DDA Board approved and recommended to City Council a restated Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Plan which the City Council, after public hearing, approved on July 20, 2015.  For a copy of the DDA plan including amendments, please click here.

The Grosse Pointe Village DDA is a voluntary organization established to maintain and enhance the viability of the commercial area on Kercheval, between Cadieux and Neff Roads, in the City of Grosse Pointe.

This is accomplished through advertising, public relations and special events that promote awareness of the area throughout the region.

We inform and educate our members with regard to Village operations, good business practices and other matters of mutual concern.

We also maintain relationships with the City of Grosse Pointe, the Village landlords, rental agents and other parties to foster a strong, full-service mix of retail, office and residential use. Through these relationships we also work to maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the Village.
